Kronenbourg Premier Cru used to be my favourite beer. Forget Miller High Life, this was the real “Champagne of Beers” and then it got discontinued a few years ago and I’ve never been able to find it since. But now…. Chimay has come along and it’s even better. Like a vintage bottle of Cristal and, relatively, just as expensive!

But it is an authentic Trappist beer, which means it’s brewed within the walls of a Trappist monastery under the control and responsibility of the community of monks, whose revenue is devoted to social service. Made at the Notre-Dame de Scourmont Abbey, it’s one of the 6 Belgian beers that can carry the logo, “Authentic Trappist Product.”
